Good evening,
It’s hard to believe it’s already time to be talking about the 2026 election cycle. It seems like just yesterday we wrapped up the last one, yet here we are again preparing for another important year for our party and our county.
Please read this email carefully, as it contains important dates and information. I apologize for the length, but I want to give you the most amount of information I can. Resources and all candidate positions are listed at the bottom of this page for quick access.
The Howard County Republican Party group filing will be held on Wednesday, January 7, at 8:00 AM. Candidates should meet on the second floor of the courthouse, outside the Howard County Clerk’s Office, with all required paperwork completed and ready to file.
This election cycle is a significant one for Howard County, with 85 seats on the ballot countywide. This is also the year to run for State Delegate, an often overlooked but critically important role. State Delegates will be responsible for selecting the Republican candidates for Secretary of State, State Comptroller, and State Treasurer.
Howard County has 28 State Delegate positions available. These are divided as follows: 6 delegates per commissioner district for a total of 18, along with 10 at large delegates, for a combined total of 28 delegates representing Howard County. It is important that we fulfill our responsibility to the party by ensuring these delegate positions are filled and represented on the ballot.
As we move forward, I want to emphasize the importance of running a clean and respectful campaign. Primaries can be competitive, and it can be easy to fall into the trap of personal attacks or internal conflict. That approach only weakens our party and distracts from the work ahead.
I strongly encourage all candidates to focus on the issues, the offices, and the vision you bring to the role, rather than on the individuals running against you. Let’s keep this primary centered on ideas, leadership, and service, and put ourselves in the strongest possible position moving forward.
If you have any questions leading up to filing day, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Best of luck to each of you as this process begins.
Respectfully,
Jordan
